Movement Classes, Workshops and Trainings
Anna’s passion is assisting people in coming "home" to their bodies ~
finding more comfort, confidence, and connection by engaging in movement and stillness. Classes combine inquiry into anatomy and function of the body with full-out self-expressive dance; spiraling inward and outward, balancing exertion and recuperation.
Classes blend a variety of movement forms studied over twenty five years; breathing, spontaneous and creative movement, Ballet, contemporary and modern dance, Authentic Movement, developmental movement patterning, patterns of total body connectivity from the Bartenieff Fundamentals, and methods from Laban Movement Analysis and Body-Mind Centering®.
Anna gently and compassionately guides participants of all shapes and sizes in harnessing deeper support for their movement desire, from the feet up and core out. Class participants report feeling more connected to themselves and their bodies, and more aware of how to repattern their movement habits in everyday life.
Anna offers workshops too for therapists, bodyworkers, educators and those interested in learning about movement as a psychotherapeutic tool. Please see the Calendar for training workshop dates, costs and descriptions, and read below.

What is Authentic Movement?
In Authentic Movement we move from the inside out, allowing ourselves to follow our own movement impulse, while being witnessed doing so. The willingness to allow ourselves, and to be seen expressing a range of emotions and aspects of ourself can be deeply healing.
I close my eyes, and become a mover. I am being am witnessed by another across the room. An image of a large primordial bird overwhelms me. I feel the power in my legs and my upper body takes a moment to adjust to this newly felt supportive strength. My arms begin to take flight.
My hands make a gripping motion and I realize they are expressing a tension that I now can actually locate in my chest area. As I “listen” more deeply, I can contact the specific area of this tension which I feel in and around my heart. As I allow my hands to make the motion, I can sense how my chest tension releases and I begin to feel more openness in this part of my body. Then my arms drop to my sides. Again, my conscious mind knows not why my arms move in this way, or “want to do this”. I simply allow myself to be moved, yet I am also consciously choosing how I will move in each moment, what I will follow, what I will not. I feel deeply satisfied allowing myself to move in this new way.
